EDINBURG, Texas (Thursday, June 24, 2021) – Rio Grande Valley FC (5-2-2, 17 pts.) will host FC Tulsa (4-4-0, 12 pts.) on Friday, June 25. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CST.
Prior to the Toros vs Tulsa match, RGV FC will be hosting a sneaker festival alongside Status from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Fans will be able to enjoy live performers and are able to view and purchase exclusive shoes from vendors.
RGV FC: The Toros were able to equalize at San Antonio 1-1 and bring back home a point. Christian Sorto scored his second goal of the season to tie the match. RGV FC competed in three games in a short amount of time which opened opportunities for a rotation of players to be able to showcase their skills to Head Coach Wilmer Cabrera. Sorto and Alexis Cerritos kept a dangerous approach against San Antonio and created opportunities which now rank them tied in second with nine total created chances with the club, Rodrigo Lopez leads with 14. Defensively, Adrian Diz Pe continues to lead and improve as he has now totaled 50 clearances, 14 interceptions, 15 tackles and six blocks while winning 33 aerial duels. Tyler Deric has conceded eight goals in nine appearances and has kept three clean sheets, all at home. RGV FC’s backline has continued to improve and stay solid as opponents’ offensive efforts shutdown.
TUL: Tulsa’s squad has some familiar faces such as Bradley Bourgeois, Kevin Garcia, Eric Bird and Kembo Kibato, who is on loan from RGV FC. Joaquin Rivas leads the offensive side for FC Tulsa as he has totaled five goals while making 11 shots. Rodrigo da Costa has made three goals and three assists while being able to create 11 chances throughout the season thus far. Goalkeeper Sean Lewis has conceded 18 goals in eight appearances while being able to keep to clean sheets.
