The Rio Grande Valley FC Toros (6,5,7) and remained scoreless with TulsaRoughnecks FC (3,11,3) on Sunday, July 10th. The Toros kept possession of the ball throughout the game but could not find the back of the net.
Both teams started the game adjusting to the wind. The first real chance of the game came in the 12th minute. Toros’ Abdoulie Mansally set up Kyle Murphy who found the ball but his shot barely went wide of the goal. Jorginho James got a shot from distance for the Toros in the 18th minute but the Tulsa goalkeeper, Alex Mangels, got enough of the ball to send it over the crossbar. Gustavo Villalobos had the first real opportunity for TulsaRoughnecks in the 25th minute but he could not capitalize on a cross. RGV’s Ivan Magalhaes put some excitement in the game. He performed a bicycle kick in the 36th but Tulsa’s Mangels comfortably saved it.
The first real chance at goal in the second half came in the 60th minute. Toros’ Callum Irving punched a ball away and found its way to Tulsa’s Carlos Martinez but his header could not be put on target. Rio Grande Valley went on the offense seconds after a Callum Irving save in the 68th minute. However, Jose Rodriguez’s shot went well right. Toros had a dangerous free kick in the 87th minute. Robert “TJ” Casner’s low shot was deflected for a corner.
The Toros will have next have a midweek game against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 on Wednesday, July 13th. Tulsa Roughnecks will next host Saint Louis FC on Friday, July 15th.
