Here are your three key points:
RGV FC enters Friday’s matchup with a 0-3-1 home record, proving to be critical at this stage of the season. The offensive efforts have been lacking thus far even if chances have been created, having scored multiple goals for the first time this season on Saturday against Austin Bold. The Toros continue to be winless this season, despite totaling 79 shots, 33 on target. There has only been seven occasions that have finished in back of the net. Both Carter Manley and Robert Coronado continue to be key on the offensive efforts as they have contributed two assists each thus far, recording one assist each most recently. Juan Carlos Obregon Jr. and Robert Castellanos lead the Toros with nine total shots each, with Taiberson right behind at eight. In nine matches, Isidro Martinez has created 13 chances while Luka Prpa has created 12 in eight matches.
Although the Toros nearly grasped the equalizer last Saturday night, the goals conceded came out of defensive mishaps. The backline has been key on several occasions having to step up in order to prevent multiple conceded goals, but this past weekend just showed how minor errors can cause critical points. Goalkeeper Paul Blanchette continues to have key saves but losing a bit of concentration throughout affects the game in a negative way. The entire squad needs to be able to be concentrated the 90+ minutes of the matchup in order to prevent potential mishaps.
There is no lie that SAFC has been a threat to every team this 2020 campaign as they enter Friday’s matchup undefeated (6-0-3) while keeping two back-to-back clean sheets – six overall. The club has only conceded four goals, scoring 17 in nine matches. Luis Solignac leads San Antonio with four goals with Cristian Parano right behind with three, adding three assists. While Dayne St. Clair was recalled by Minnesota United FC, Matt Cardone had to fill in under the arc totaling 10 saves out of the 11 shots faced, giving him a 90.9% save success rate while only conceding one goal in four matches. Last time both clubs met, RGV FC fell 1-0 at Toyota Field but equalized 1-1 at H-E-B Park prior. The home record between both clubs is 3-2-2.
