EDINBURG, Texas (Monday, Dec. 14, 2020) – Rio Grande Valley FC volunteered at Salvation Army in McAllen, Texas for Day 7 of the 12 Days of Toros campaign as the club serves the Rio Grande Valley community for 12 days during the holiday season. The club assisted the Salvation Army distribute over 150 Christmas gifts to recipients in their drive-thru giveaway. 


“It’s always good to giveback to the community,” said John Wermeling, RGV FC Sr. Account Executive. “Especially during the holidays and especially this year with everything going on. It was great to provide some joy to the community and help put smiles on faces.”


Salvation Army continues to assist the Rio Grande Valley as they offer various programs and services for those in need. Programs and services they offer a men’s women’s and family shelter, community kitchen that serves lunch and dinner, social services and food pantry. 


The holidays can bring joy for many, but troubles for some. Salvation Army serves the community by distributing Thanksgiving lunch and dinner, Christmas gifts to hundreds of families while offering programs such as Angel Tree, Ring the Bell, Red Kettle Challenge and open donations. 


RGV FC along with the Vipers, will assist the South Texas Literacy Coalition as they distribute more than 5,000 books at Bert Ogden Arena for the Book Drive-Thru on Monday, December 14 at 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Media availability is encouraged, for more information please contact
