EDINBURG, Texas (Friday, Sept. 4, 2020) – Rio Grande Valley FC acquired goalkeeper Kyle Ihn on loan from OKC Energy FC for the remainder of the USL Championship season, the clubs announced today.
The Toros traded an international roster spot to OKC Energy for the remainder of the season in exchange for the 25-year-old. Ihn joined OKC after one season with Lansing Ignite FC from USL League One. The shot stopper appeared in three league games and one match in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2019.
Ihn (pronounced EYE-n) began his professional career in 2018 with Reno 1868 FC from the USL Championship. The goalkeeper appeared in one USL Championship match for Reno and two Open Cup matches, including a victory over Portland Timbers II in the second round of the tournament.
The Wales, Wisconsin native appeared in 52 games for the University of Wisconsin at Green Bay from 2013-2016. The goalkeeper earned Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week honors in his final season with the Phoenix after he finished with five saves in the opening game of the season against Wright State in Sept. 2016.
With the addition of Ihn, the Toros now have 27 players on the roster. The goalkeeper will be available for selection for Saturday’s road trip to the Alamo City when RGV FC face San Antonio FC.
