The Rio Grande Valley FC Toros U-19 Academy Team will be traveling to Bradenton, Florida to compete in the Super Group of the IMG Cup – Boys Invitational.
This year’s tournament will be the seventh one played. Teams have to be invited into the Super Group in order to be accepted. While teams can apply, they are subject to review by the IMG Tournament Cup Committee. All players will have to be born on Jan. 1 or after to be eligible to play in the tournament.
The RGV FC Toros Academy has been grouped with U-17 United States Men’s National Team, Tottenham FC (England), and Baltimore Armour 18DA. The other group consists of Deportivo Toluca FC (Mexico), Sao Paulo FC (Brazil), Black Rock FC, and IMG Academy 18DA.
The IMG Cup attracts the best teams from the nation and around the world. College coaches attend the tournament to scout the event making the cup an elite tournament for quality competition and collegiate exposure.
The RGV FC Toros will face England’s Tottenham FC on Dec. 14 at 12:15p.m. (CT), U-17 USMNT at 10:30 a.m. (CT) on Dec. 15, and Baltimore Armour 18DA at 10:30a.m. (CT) on Dec. 17. A fourth game will be played on Dec.18. Time and opponent will depend on group stage results.
