The Rio Grande Valley FC Toros return to H-E-B Park to start a five home game stretch. The Toros will face off against Colorado Springs
Switchbacks FC on Wednesday, April 12. The Toros have yet to lose against the Switchbacks and seek to stay undefeated against them.
RGV FC Toros enters the game coming off their first win of the season and scoring their first goal of the season.Eric Bird almost got on the score sheet in the 27th minute. Bird was left wide open inside the box and shot a volley that went wide to the left of the goal. Emilio Garcia took his chances from a free kick in the 33rd minute. Garcia’s shot went over the crossbar.
The Toros kept applying pressure in the second half. Jose Escalante blasted a shot to the left post of the goal. Garcia was able to get the rebound but his shot hit an OKC defender. Calle Brown, RGV FC Toros goalkeeper, left his mark on the game in the 55th minute. Brown stopped Jose Barril’s penalty kick to keep his clean sheet.
In the 67th minute Ruben Luna scored the first Toros goal of the season from the penalty spot. Camilo Monroy was pulled inside the penalty box which lead to the Toros being awarded a penalty. In the 74th minute OKC’s Dixon was shown a red card after getting two yellow cards. RGV’s Victor Garza was also shown a red card in the 83rd minute. In the dying minutes of the game, OKC were left with nine men after Jose Barril committed a dangerous foul on Jorginho James.
Colorado Springs last faced San Antonio FC. Both teams played to a 1-1 draw. Aaron King gave Colorado the lead in the 12th minute. San Antonio found the equalizer in the 79th minute when Kris Tyrpak.
