The Rio Grande Valley FC Toros will play host to Tulsa Roughnecks FC on Saturday, April 22. The second encounter between both teams this season will take place at H-E-B Park and will kick off at 7:30p.m.
The first time both teams faced each other, the Toros fell on the road by the slim margin of one goal. The Roughnecks scored the lone goal of the match in the 31st minute. Joey Calistri received the ball inside RGV’s box and shot through Borja Angoitia to give Tulsa the lead in the game. Ian Svantesson collected the assist for Tulsa.
The Toros will want to build on their two game winning streak. RGV last faced Colorado Switchbacks FC on April 12 and came out on top 3-1. Memo was able to score off a Switchbacks defensive blunder. Colorado Springs tried heading the ball back to Jackson but Memo intercepted the ball and scored the first goal of the match. Memo Rodriguez collected his brace right before halftime, at the 44th minute. His shot rattled the roof of the net.
Camilo Monroy got on the score sheet in the 64th minute. Eric Bird found him completely open. Monroy then dribbled through the Switchbacks defense and slotted it in for the final goal of the match.
Tulsa Roughnecks FC lost against Sacramento Republic FC. Wilson Kneeshaw gave Sacramento Republic the lead in the 49th minute and then doubled their lead in the 67th minute. Tyler Blackwood was the man responsible for extending Sacramento’s lead. Calistri was able to cut down the lead but Tulsa was not able to bring both teams even.
After the match against Tulsa, the Toros will remain at home. Their next opponent will be OKC Energy FC on Saturday, April 29.
