OKC Energy FC hosted the RGV FC Toros for their season home opener. The Toros spoiled the party at Taft stadium after coming home with the three points. RGV’s Ruben Luna scored from the penalty spot in the second half to seal the 1-0 win. RGV’s Calle Brown was also a hero in the game. Brown stopped Jose Barril’s penalty that would’ve put Energy FC in the lead.
The Toros will want to bounce back after suffering a 1-0 loss to Tulsa Roughnecks last week. Jaime Ayala scored the lone goal of the match. Ayala found space and blasted a rocket into the upper right corner of the goal. The Toros only had two shots on goal for the match.
OKC Energy comes from a 1-0 win over Sacramento Republic FC. Miguel Gonzalez scored the lone goal at Taft Stadium in the 30thminute. Gonzalez’s bicycle kick found the back of the net. The match was played on Tuesday, April 11.
The last time OKC Energy FC played in Edinburg, they eliminated the Toros from playoffs. Two goals in the dying minutes of the game knocked the Toros’ championship run.
After the Toros face OKC Energy FC, the team will not return to action until May 13 when Swope Park Rangers comes into town followed by LA Galaxy II on May 20.
