The Rio Grande Valley FC Toros will play host to Swope Park Rangers on Saturday, May 13 as the Toros come back from a bye week.
On April 29, the Rio Grande Valley FC Toros defeated OKC Energy FC by a score of 3-0. Eric Bird, Joseph Holland, and Jose Escalante scored the goals for the Toros. In the 8th minute, Eric Bird found space after Joseph Holland placed a through ball and faced Cody Laurendi, goalkeeper for OKC Energy FC, one-on-one. After juking out Laurendi, Bird scored into the open net.
Joseph Holland doubled the lead for the Toros in the 38th minute. Taylor Hunter headed back an Emilio Garcia cross. After a slight deflection from an OKC defender, Holland blasted his volley into the back of the net. Jose Escalante scored the last goal of the Toros in the second half. Escalante dribbled the ball and slipped the ball through Laurendi who had left his line.
Swope Park Rangers comes back from a win as well. Swope Park faced Vancouver Whitecaps 2 and defeated them 3-1. Nansel Selbol put the Rangers ahead early in the game in the 8th minute. Lebo Moloto doubled the lead for Swope Park in the 28thminute.
Swope Park scored their last goal in the first half. In the 38th minute Kharlton Belmar scored. Ben McKendry pulled one back for the Vancouver Whitecaps 2 but it was too late as the goal came in on the 86th minute.
The Toros currently hold a 2-0-1 record over Swope Park Rangers. Their last game was on September 3 with the Toros coming up on top 2-0 on the road.
