EDINBURG, Texas (Thursday, July 1, 2021) – Rio Grande Valley FC forward Kyle Edwards was on Thursday named to the final roster of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines for the final stage of qualifying for the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines will compete in the Preliminary Round that kicks off on Friday, July 2 at 3:30 p.m. CST against Haiti at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The winner of that contest will meet side that advance from the game between Bermuda and Barbados on July 6, with the winner of that contest advancing to the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup group stage, which begins on July 10.
Though it is the first time both countries have met in a Gold Cup qualifier, Haiti holds the all-time series lead with a 4-0-1 record against Vincy Heat. The last time they met was in the Second Round of the Caribbean Cup 2010 in November where Les Grenadiers fell 3-1 to Haiti.
Edwards has earned 19 senior caps with St. Vincent and the Grenadines, most recent in the 2021 Concacaf World Cup Qualifiers as part of Group C: Curaçao, British Virgin Islands, Guatemala and Cuba.
